Straight Images 2 - Dog Duties

Straight Images - Dog Duties

The image above is of my little sister, Rebecca, and my dog, Cody. In this shoot I wanted to concentrate on the everyday life of having a dog, so the activities we have to carry out for him everyday. In this image my wiser is putting his harness on ready to go for a walk, this is always hard work as he associates the harness with gong out and get excited and jumps all over the living room. However, my sister in managing to keep him still by holding him tightly, allowing me to capture this image.

Shortly after putting his harness on, the lead goes on. Once this is attached and set at the right length he goes a sits by the door, ready to pull the holder down the step. This shows his puppy-like nature, the excitement he still has for going out for a run and how he knows exactly where he is going from the signs of the lead and the whole family putting their shoes on.

The day this image was taken was a sunny day which mean that majority of the grass wasn't muddy apart from this very muddy puddle which was in the shade. On the way past the puddle Cody went around it and waited on the path for us to catch up however on the way back as we got through the path he was laying in the puddle with his tongue hanging out of his mouth. We think he done this to cool down , he had mud on his tongue which indicated that he'd tried to drink out of the puddle. This shows the messy and naughty side of him which usually makes good stories and funny memories.

This simple image is a very important in the everyday life of looking after a dog. His bowls look exactly like this three times a day at 7AM, Midday and 5PM. This is part of our everyday life as the family and Cody all know the routine. His food is weighed out in the morning and spread out over the course of the day accordingly. It is always in exactly the same place, right in front of the back door where the double door allows lots of natural light. As this was a particularly sunny day the door was open and the sun provided warmth in this little spot which Cody very much enjoyed.

As I have mentioned before this shoot was taken on a warm and sunny day, one where the family spends most of the day in the garden. Therefore, Cody wants to be in the garden with us, running around non-stop. As the day progressed he started to tire and get hot so we brought both of his bowls outside and filled them with water so that he could cool down. Again this is part of my everyday life, especially in the summer making sure that the dog is cool and isn't overheating is a vital thing the family has to do as he relies on us.
